Aldershot Model Car Club - Meeting 9th April 2010

OK here it is, exclusive first shots of the legendary 15 lapper at Aldershot! Simon Lancaster’s KP10e that is now confirmed as holding the quickest time. As can be seen it’s pretty much a stock KP10e, with a Nosram Matrix speedo and 10.5 brushless motor.

Simon runs the steering springs (standard KP hards) pretty much wound in tight. He likes the steering to be really positive and responsive.

Front and rear wheels use the ‘hair curler’ method of inserts giving a very hard tyre. This seems to make the bike more stable on sweeping corners as the tyre doesn’t squirm around as much as it does with soft inserts.

Nice to see Mark Plested running this weekend at what was a busy weekend, with a car national looming there were 11 heats.

Jevon Frost’s bike, a KP09e, fitted with Tekin speed control. Note his custom made crash bars, these have bearings in so rotate - never really wearing out. Jev has experimented with running a saddle pack lipo battery. One going underneath in the usual spot and the other being placed in front of the engine between the chassis plates. This worked well, but due to the World rules about charging lipos in a lipo sack he has had to revert to the traditional battery placement.
